Fine art photographer Patricia Scialo recently relocated to the North Shore of Massachusetts. She specializes in historic and alternative photographic processes.
Her education has been non-traditional, starting in 1980 as an intern assisting acclaimed photographers teaching workshops in the community of Peters Valley Crafts Center, Layton, N.J. Within a year she received a fellowship grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts for her still life palladium prints titled “Assemblages”.
Her current work includes mixed-media techniques such as encaustic, hand-tinting and paper-making, continuing her love of working with raw materials. She is the 2020 recipient, winning first place in three categories of the professional section of the international, 15th Julia Margaret Cameron Gala Awards.
“Rediscovered through the lens of the camera, my subject is often transformed and recreated with the intention to question the viewer and develop intrigue.”
